Yankee Ridge
Yankee Ridge is Urbana School District’s multilingual school serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Spanish and French Dual Language programs.

School Goals
Literacy Goal
Enhance student reading skills using the structured literacy model.
- The school team will…help 50% of students meet their projected growth goal in ELA/SLA/FLA
- Families will…Collaborate with school staff to assist their students in their literacy growth. Commit to promoting daily reading habits at home.
- Students will…Take responsibility for their own academic progress by engaging in high level learning.
Math Goal
Improve academic growth in math as evidenced by results on the MAP assessment by applying number sense to accurately solve grade level mathematical problems, all the while structuring instruction to encourage students to engage with and see the value of math.
- The school team will…help 50% of students meet their projected growth goal in Math.
- Families will…Support their children in learning the grade level math by assisting them with their homework.
- Students will…gain confidence and fluency in their math computation skills and mathematical thinking based on the standards for their grade level between the Fall and Spring Benchmarks.
Attendance Goal
Students will attend school regularly to access important educational opportunities. By the end of SY 25-26, our chronic absenteeism rate will be at or below 20%. Currently 89% of chronically absent students are Latine. By the end of the 25-26 school year, we will reduce the number of chronically absent Latine students by 15%.
- The school team will…have positive conversations with students about attendance and connect with parents either by phone or home visits.
- Families will…Complete Panorama SEL Survey three times per year and receive services that provide support for student attendance.

Cultural & Climate Goal
School climate refers to the overall atmosphere, including the physical and emotional safety of the students and staff. On the other hand, school culture encompasses the shared values, beliefs, and practices within the school community.
- The school team will…Strengthening culture & climate through implementation of PBIS systems schoolwide and CHAMPS in classrooms. MTSS procedures clarified and implemented consistently.
